![]() ![]() Align this with the idea of Luke finding him as a prisoner of Palpatine made aware of the new Jedi Order and there it we go, he destroys the Jedi to ensure a destroyed faction never returns. Training this kind of nihilism into Kylo is why the latter turns into "let the past die" and wants to destroy everything. Snoke becomes so disillusioned with the basic idea of living that he seeks to wipe out all life and any remnant of the Force before he goes to his own grave. Much like how Emperor Palpatine was deformed by his reflected Force lightning in Revenge of the Sith, Snoke suffered grave injuries at some point during combat, and while he still remained. He also claims that the character’s scars have come from previous battles, and since it’s been so long since he sustained them, there’s been a kind of decay that has wilted and withered them, leading him to have the horrifically disfigured. He'd inflict torture and injury on Snoke only to restore him and test the limits of these powers while refusing to allow him to die. According to Andy Serkis, Supreme Leader Snoke is a couple of hundred years old. One detail I'd add onto your particular theory is that Snoke is scarred and as old as he is because Palpatine subjected him to experiments to study Darth Plagueis's life-sustaining discoveries. He bided his time and honed powers Palpatine wouldn't have known about not only to have an ace, but to rub in his face that he had been surpassed by what he threw away. One theory I had was that Snoke would have been akin to what Maul tried to make himself in the Clone Wars: a betrayed associate/apprentice of Palpatine biding his time to overthrow his master and establish his own dark order. Now that I think of it-isn't it odd that none of the characters (except Palps) ever mention Snoke at all in TRoS? Kylo doesn't even seem that upset that he had been being manipulated for so long. ![]() I could understand cutting out of a lot of political stuff if its going to add a half-hour to the run time, but perhaps not even five minutes? This could have helped shine light on NR-Resistence relations (I understand some of this was in a TFA deleted scene or two). The Rebelistance lacked the resources to continue trying, and warnings to the New Republic Senate fell on deaf ears. We also could have gotten some word of the FO being up to something sinister on Ilum, but all ships sent to check it out were destroyed. The Imperial Senate had just been disbanded, thereby making it clear that Palpy was transitioning from some sort of constitutional monarchy into a totalitarian dictatorship. ![]() The viewer learned a lot about the state of the Empire and the galaxy in a short period time. Having Snoke's background revealed to the audience could have also been used to explain things beyond Snoke. If he retained a few to serve as servants, why did none of them come out to protect him? Why did Sidious have multiple Snoke clones in tanks? If these were abortive earlier attempts, why keep them around? If these were spares to be able to send replacements to the FO, they are now superflous. ![]()
